If the water is from a clean source and hasn’t been standing for more than 2-3 days, there’s a good chance we can save the carpet. However, older carpets that are severely stained and starting to separate may not be salvageable.

Water trapped in solid wood flooring can be removed with dehumidifiers and specialized dry heat mats. Using the right equipment and following proper drying procedures gives the best chance for successful restoration. However, modern engineered floating floors (also known as laminate flooring) are typically non-restorable, as moisture trapped beneath these sealed surfaces cannot be extracted. Even carpets that feel slightly damp will typically take 12-24 hours to dry. In most cases, it takes 2-4 days to dry both the carpet and underlay. While it may not be visible, flooding often affects walls and subfloors as well. To properly dry the structure, we may need to lift floor coverings and remove skirting boards to allow for structural drying, which can take an additional 2-3 days. A property that’s fully submerged in water could take several weeks, or even up to a month, to dry to acceptable standards.
